Meet BoBo: The Trail-Loving, Snuggly Pup Ready for Adoption
The sun was just beginning to peek through the trees as BoBo, a handsome 3-year-old Boxer/Labrador Retriever mix, stepped out of his kennel for some fresh morning air. BoBo, with his tan and white coat and an irresistible smile, was about to enjoy a well-deserved day out from the Carteret County Humane Society. And what a day it turned out to be!
BoBo's story is one of resilience and hope. He arrived at the shelter on May 13, 2024, when his previous owner could no longer care for him. Initially timid and unsure about shelter life, BoBo has come a long way, thanks to the patience and love of the dedicated volunteers and staff.
An Adventure to Remember
After a bit of stretching and a quick pit stop, BoBo eagerly hopped into my van, ready for his day of adventure. Let me tell you, this pup is a backseat bandit at heart—he would have happily taken the co-pilot seat if not for the trusty seatbelt keeping him safe! Our first stop was Patsy Pond, one of my favorite spots for a quiet walk surrounded by nature.
BoBo proved to be the ultimate trail buddy. His enthusiasm for sniffing every tree and bush hinted at some serious hound instincts. We passed another dog on the trail, and although BoBo was curious, he showed great restraint, sitting calmly and watching as they passed. Once we were back on the move, a simple “bye-bye?” was all it took to have him trotting back to the van, ready for more.
Studio Time & Snuggle Breaks
Once we arrived at the studio, BoBo settled in for a refreshing water break and a well-deserved enrichment toy. Although there was a comfy dog bed available, this confident guy chose the sofa for his post-adventure nap—only the best for BoBo! He posed like a natural on my Christmas set and was a star during his non-seasonal photo session. Out of all the dogs I've hosted for doggy day outs, BoBo stood out for his incredible confidence and charm.
He impressed me with his training; BoBo knows “sit” and is about 50/50 on “down,” which, hey, who’s perfect, right? He’s house-trained and wasn’t fazed by the usual studio commotion—moving backgrounds, lights, you name it, he calmly followed me around. And yes, BoBo is food-motivated and loves chew toys! The only thing he wasn’t a fan of? The vacuum—classic.
The Bittersweet Goodbye
As soon as I grabbed his leash to head back outside, BoBo’s excitement returned. He practically bounced out the door, making a beeline for the van. He insisted on riding shotgun again (safely seatbelted, of course), and we made our way back to the shelter. This part is always the hardest. When we reached the gates, BoBo paused, clearly not wanting to go back. It was a reminder of why I do what I do—to give these dogs a break, some joy, and most importantly, to help them find their forever families.
BoBo’s sweet nature isn’t just limited to trail walks and studio naps. He recently spent a weekend at Carolina Home and Garden, where he proved he’s great with kids and loves attention. He’s affectionate, curious, and ready for a life filled with snuggles and outdoor adventures.
Could You Be BoBo’s Forever Home?
BoBo is current on his shots, neutered, microchipped, and ready for a fresh start. This charming boy would thrive with a family who appreciates both snuggle time on the couch and active adventures outside. If you're looking for a companion who’s loving, playful, and always ready for the next outing, BoBo could be the perfect addition to your home.

Note: For potential adopters with other dogs, please bring your pup along for a meet-and-greet on neutral ground before finalizing the adoption. It ensures everyone’s comfort and safety. And remember, adopting a dog is a commitment, but one filled with joy, laughter, and unconditional love.
