Doggy Day Out with Skittles: From Bouncing Pup to Snoozing Sunbather! 🌞

If you've ever visited a shelter, you know that the dog you see in the kennel may not always be the dog you get to know outside of it. And that’s especially true for Skittles, a one-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier with plenty of love to share!

The Morning Hustle 🐕

When I first arrived at the shelter, Skittles was ready to go, go, go! It was early, and he was bouncing off the walls, likely because he hadn’t had a potty break or breakfast yet. But after a quick relief run, he calmed down fast.

Getting into the van was another story—Skittles needed a little help getting in, probably because he hasn’t had many car rides. But once inside, he quickly settled down and even laid down for most of the ride!

The Studio Experience 📸

Once we reached the studio, Skittles had free rein to sniff around. He explored every nook and cranny (as all good detectives do!), but he wasn’t quite ready to eat his breakfast yet. After 45 minutes of exploring, he found a sunny spot near the front door and decided it was nap time. This pretty much became his routine throughout the day—we’d play a little, then he’d find a sunny spot for a snooze while I worked. Talk about a laid-back dude!

Snuggle Alert: This Pit Bull is All Love! ❤️

Skittles doesn’t just think he’s a lapdog—he knows it! Whenever I sat on the floor, he'd push his way into my lap, eager to be held. He even put his paws on my shoulders a few times, trying to get as close as possible.

A word of caution for families with small children: Skittles loves what I call “love nibbles.” He’s not aggressive, but he does enjoy mouthing in a playful, affectionate way.

A Photoshoot to Remember 📸🎄

When it came time for his photoshoot, Skittles was all in. He worked for treats like a pro and even made himself comfortable on the Christmas set I was setting up. It’s clear that this sweet boy is hoping for a forever home before the holidays roll around!

Could Skittles Be Your New Best Friend? 🐾

If you’re searching for a buddy who loves to play, snuggle, and sunbathe, Skittles might be the perfect fit for you! Visit the Carteret County Humane Society and meet this lovable boy. He’s ready to share all his affection and find a family to call his own.

If adopting isn’t an option right now, you can still help make a difference. Consider volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word about Skittles and his shelter friends. Together, we can help make their dreams of forever homes come true!
